Park Startbaan is expanding its indoor tennis court capacity for the winter season from 5 to 7 courts. There is high demand for indoor facilities in Amstelveen and the surrounding area. This is mainly due to the conversion of tennis courts into padel courts. The new 2-lane Air Dome is expected to be ready by 1 October, and everything is geared towards that.
Playing on clay all year round will soon be possible at Park Startbaan!
In this post, you can read more about the latest developments and, in particular, how the new courts can be booked.
Court selection, clay and more
A lot has happened since the General Members’ Meeting on 25 March, at which the members of LTC Startbaan approved the Air Dome project by a large majority.
Following comments made at the General Meeting, the board has re-examined whether track section 9-10 might still be suitable for the installation of the hall. To cut a long story short, this track section has once again been deemed unsuitable for technical reasons. Our first choice, track section 3-4, remains the preferred option. The technical equipment, such as the blower fan and the propane tank, will be suitably located here between the fence at this track section and the ditch.
At the General Meeting and via newsletters, the board of Park Startbaan announced that court allocations would be granted first and foremost, as a priority, to the board of LTC Startbaan and The Majors, which organises lessons and training sessions for LTC Startbaan members. At the same time, members of the club were also given the opportunity to book a court on a priority basis.
The outcome of these initiatives has been very positive. The club has reserved a number of courts to organise various activities for members during the winter. Details of these activities will be shared shortly by the club’s board. In total, approximately 40% of the indoor hall’s capacity has now been booked for club members. A fantastic result!
Furthermore, our research into the combination of clay courts and the indoor hall has recently been completed, and clear conclusions have been drawn. We will be reporting more on this very soon.
Courts are now available to book!
Now that LTC Startbaan members have made their bookings, we are opening the doors wide to bookings from non-members as of today. You can check the availability of indoor courts – both in the Air Dome and in the regular indoor courts – via our website. Here’s how to book:
- First, check whether your preferred day and time are available. Look at the availability page for week 41. There you can see which courts are still available to book this coming winter. (Blaashal A, Blaashal B)
- Check the rates on this page.
- Send an email to administratie@parkstartbaan.nl and sign up.
- Indoor courts are in short supply in winter, so don’t wait too long.
Have we sorted out all the formalities?
We are currently still awaiting for the Municipal Permission. We expect to receive this within a few weeks. Formally, the installation of the Air Dome is therefore not yet 100% certain. That is why we must add the following disclaimer to our message. As soon as the permission is granted, we will announce this in the news section on our website www.parkstartbaan.nl.
Disclaimer
Park Startbaan aims to open a two-lane Air Dome by 1 October 2026, so that these winter lanes are available for hire. However, the completion of the hall is dependent on external factors, including the granting of permits and technical implementation. In the unlikely event that the Air Dome cannot be completed by 1 October, hirers will be notified in good timeAll bookings for winter pitches in the air-supported hall are subject to a condition precedent:
Should the air-supported hall not be constructed, all bookings made will automatically lapse. In that case, no charges will be payable and any amounts already paid will be refunded in full. By making a booking, the hirer agrees to these terms and conditions.
