We had already mentioned the possibility of new scoreboards a few months ago. The old boards are worn out and prone to malfunctions. Still, finding a good alternative wasn’t that easy. We finally found a suitable system at the beautiful Castricum Billiards Center, where Alex Völker is an experienced billiards player and also the owner of a software company. He developed the Targascoreboard for billiards for the billiards club there. And now the system is also available for other locations.

We started with the first unit on Table 1, and it immediately generated a lot of enthusiastic reactions. Over the course of September, we’ll be installing the new scoreboards on the remaining tables, thanks to the great installation work by RBCA billiards players Frans and Paul.

Operating the scoreboards is very intuitive; not much instruction is needed. For a simple match between Player A and Player B, you can get the hang of it quickly. But it’s much more fun when you can also enter the players’ names along with their averages, etc. Those more advanced features are also included in the system, and there’s demand for them from the clubs.

On September 30 at 3:00 p.m., Alex Völker will give a presentation on the Targa system for club administrators, tournament directors, and any billiards players who are interested. Please let us know if you’re coming so we’ll know how many chairs and tables to set up.
